Gasworks

Gasworks is one of many watercolors I have painted plein air at one of Seattle’s most unusual parks. I paint there several times every summer and used to live in nearby Wallingford. I love the combination of big simple forms (the cylinders of the tanks) with lots of complex industrial details like ladders, valves, and bolts, as well as the rust and lichen that make them colorful. My work is usually about human relationships to nature. –Artist statement
