Photo For Summer and Samaras (Y.A.W.Y.E.Y.A.W.Y.C.Y.A.W.F)

This homage to both a season and to Lucas Samaras begins with an image of a spill in a yogurt aisle that has been distorted to be nearly unreadable through photo manipulation. An image of a melon frames this work, with a collaged overlay of lines and numbers that appear to be a range of PNW summer temperatures from the early 2010s, before some of the recent heatwaves due to global warming. The work considers some of the trends of photography in the 2009-2013 period alongside past historical art movements, and additionally has the option of being displayed with vanilla beans hanging from the glazing. –Artist statement
