This painting was inspired by natural rock formations and precious gems. The objects seem to float like jewels, suspended in motion, with facets that catch the light and shimmer against soft color backgrounds. While these combinations of shapes and hues serve as research for larger works, they also hold an intimacy that makes them feel uniquely precious. –Artist statement
