Patrick Siler is a nationally known ceramic artist who spent a major part of his life teaching in the ceramic department at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. His work has influenced several generations of ceramic artists as well as painters because he taught painting classes also. For years he created towering ceramic vessels with humorous, honky tonk figures scattered across the surface. On this plate, Siler re-enacts the process of firing the kiln in the creation of a ceramic piece.
