In these drawings, the artist has explored and interpreted the formal and conceptual ideas of Theodore Gericault’s painting, 'The Raft of the Medusa,’ housed in the collection of the Louvre Museum, Paris.  Gericault captures a moment in history when 15 men, adrift on an insufficient life raft, struggled for salvation from a harrowing trial at sea. With these drawings the artist is attempting to capture the emotion and to offer further consideration of being cast into any type of unfamiliar realm, be it sea, outer space or inner psyche.
