Red Chairs

I grew up among my extended family, like many Asian households. When we sat together for a meal there were always assigned positions. Even in the living room there were certain chairs that belonged to certain people. It's where they always sat. I came to identify those chairs with the people who sat in them. Even when they're not here, their chairs echo their presence. –Artist statement
