Ripple was created for the SPU employees who are responsible for creating and maintaining Seattle's water systems. Irregular, sloping shapes of the wood alter the viewer's perspective of an object and challenge supposed, understood ideas, both in the art piece and in daily decisions. The carved, ripple pattern emphasizes the ripple effect that SPU has in the community and adds a fresh energy to this important work environment. –Artist statement
