Fascinated by the mechanics of television, Norie Sato made images that relate to how the phosphors (lines which carry the visual information of a video image), interference, and electronic noise appear, fleetingly across video screens. She liked the idea of working with those things one doesn't or can't ordinarily see.  She interpreted these bits of electronic information that travel at the speed light through the slowest of mediums. . . that of print making.

I look at the phenomenon of video from its basic elements of the phosphorescent screen and the fading image that happens too rapidly for our eyes to perceive.  I like to recreate it. . . to capture a moment, ordinarily unseen by our slowly reacting eyes, onto paper. . . I work with those things one doesn't usually see, but might glance or perceive faintly, those mementos of electronic events.  All the elements are there, though perhaps not immediately apparent.  Look closely. –Artist statement
