Sargasso Stir

Lois Graham is regarded as one of the region's important abstract expressionist painters.  Her works have been shown in museums and galleries throughout the Pacific Northwest and in Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston.  She is also included in numerous private and public collections.
 
She has been showing in the Seattle area since the mid-1970s.  This painting is the largest painting to date by Graham.  The work is typical of Graham's style with glossy paint applied thickly with a palette knife or brush and supplemented with thick strokes of paint and scratches to create texture.
