The Dreamers

Sheryl Funkhouser’s distinctive style combines elements of abstraction with snippets of imagery gathered from myriad sources. Her resulting compositions have the quality of exquisitely crafted collages, in which each element not only carries its weight formally but also adds a sense of narrative content to the image as a whole. Funkhouser is rightly admired for her mastery of techniques. She is a graduate of the Pacific Northwest College of Art and was one of the original members of Portland’s Blackfish Gallery. –Art of the Time, Oregon Arts Commission, 2011
