Spruce Street Box Car Race

I captured this image in the Central District during Seattle Night Out on August 2014. With our street officially closed to traffic, my neighbors and I took over the streets with box cars we had built for our kids. Moments like this – children of color playing freely in the streets in the Central District – are becoming rare as gentrification transforms the area, pushing young families of color out of this historically racially diverse neighborhood. –Artist statement
