Waltz of the Flowers

Being in a cavernous structure like the old Seattle Opera House was a delight as a ballet scene played out. The enormity of this old structure along with the stage lighting frames the delicate blue dancers to perfection. I knew before the show was over that I would be painting this scene soon. The late-entering audience member adds some forgiving reality to a potentially stuffy scene. –Artist statement
