TV Dressing

In 2007, I traveled back to my homeland of the Philippines for the first time in my life. Balikbayan series explores the ubiquitous use of Catholic religious icons and how the icons’ overly omnipresent nature transpires itself into everyday life in the Philippines. Here, the TV is lovingly dressed and decorated by a custom-made flower patterned trim. The whirring of fans gently billow and fill the trim like a floating summer dress. –Artist statement
