Rings III

Wassong's primary medium is painting, but she considers the monoprint to be complimentary with its low tech, painterly immediacy.  She approaches her surface as a kind of game board for interactive play of color, shape and pattern, organizing the shapes and patterns in varying configurations, shifting space and building color relationships until arriving at a composition of balance and richness of texture.  After many runs through the press, the layering of ink builds a richness of color and texture.  Done in a series of six or eight, each print varies slightly from the one before.
