My paintings use the imagery of cartography to explore different experiences of place: physical space, spiritual space, and, in particular, an internal landscape, or inscape, of space and time. Most of my maps are ephemeral: they are depictions of ideas about places, not the actual places. But, for Climate Change Is Real, I painted an actual map of the world and integrated real facts about the effects of climate change with poetic thoughts and reactions to the changing landscapes and ecosystems of the world. –Artist statement
