This piece depicts Home Alive’s final studio sign. Home Alive is a Seattle-based, anti-violence organization that started in 1993, closed down as a nonprofit in 2010, and continues to operate as a small collective. The artist created this painting by embedding old class outlines, fliers, and notes into the piece through layers of beeswax, oil paint and graphite. This work is part of the series, The Capitol Hill I Remember, which depicts beloved former Capitol Hill establishments. –Artist statement
