Illuminated manuscripts and prayer books from a variety of cultures informed this body of work.  I created an alphabet made from images collected from a two mile walk – bits of tin foil, organic material, a piece of rubber.  This detritus forms an alphabet that creates sentences and paragraphs.  Methods of surface design include photographic contact printing, silkscreen, stamping, patching, stenciling, stitching, quilting, rubbing, piecing, text, French knotting, and stiffening. –Artist statement
