Description: Artwork is a mosaic executed in small-scale pieces of marble and glass of Italian origin. The design was originally a set of clay prints created by the artist and translated into a mosaic mural at a specialized workshop.
Artist Statement: The title specifically refers to the middle section of the image. This area is a large-scale branch form that is composed of many different types of plants, symbolically representing the polyglot nature of our city. Our trees tell the history of our immigration and settlement. The evergreens represented in the piece refer to the original landscape; all are trees of importance to the Coast Salish people.
